I have heard of conversion from Christianity to Hinduism and vice versa; Islam to Hinduism and vice versa; Hinduism to Budhism and vice versa. There seems to be "established methodologies" for those conversions (ok, i am talking controversies here, but since its midnight, its excused for the moment)
Now the question is, one of the "famous" personalities whom i know, wants to convert himself into an Iyengar; he is currently an Iyer. Do we have any procedures for conversion between Iyer and Iyengar? Narayana Narayana...

i hope bharathi doesn't want to become an iyengar 'cause kamal hassan is an iyengar.. also 'cause he is love with an iyengar girl... but there is the story of one of the azhvars being a shaivite for sometime and a fellow azhvar made him realize his mistake...

I think the easiest ritual to convert would be to join a quizzing team with one Iyer and one more random guy - The random guy lifts his hand and says "I", the Iyer obviously says "Iyer" and then he can say "Iyengar"

But unfortunately, "I, Iyer, Iyengar" is a very familiar name in LMQ since early 90's, so can't be a fourth man in that squad! You can try for "backup Iyengar" position.

dei pam romba pesadhe! i normally read blogs and never respond to them.. i responded to this one so that i can inform the world that the guy who wants to conver is our "bharathi".. btw intha conversion wish kamal kagava illai kannalathukka nu bharathi needs to clarify.. i am sure it is not for spiritual purposes :)
