A Long weekend .....
Good to have a long weekend. This time , none of my friends were here, so i called up to find whether my 'Bangalorean' friend Sundi was there. To my Surprise, he was alive and he invited me to his place for the weekend. There we watched "Reservoir Dogs" and " Ek Hasina Thi".
Reservoir Dogs , i guess is a reallllllllllllllly low budget Hollywood movie. The way in which every scene is shot is pretty different from what u get to see in other movies.The camera doesn't move for most of the time, just "Zoomin" happens. Dialogues are coooool and funny !! Pity that Kaizad Gustad copied the story for his "Boom" (which is perhaps the worst movie made in Bollywood )
"Ek Hasina Thi " reminds me of a Sidney Sheldon novel ( i remember the character name "Tracy, but i dont remember the Title), where the Heroine, who gets punished in Jail for someone else's crime, takes her revenge.
And Finally , we watched "Virumaandi", A lot of hype was created for this movie. Direction is ok, the way in which two people narrate the same story is new to tamil cinema , Cinematography is great. The "Bull Fighting" scene is the highlight of the movie. Other than that, the story sounds all too familiar,nothing different !!

Today is Republic Day . People say that India is "Shining" and the "feelgood" factor is there, this reminds me of the 'lacha' which we had last August in BITS where we jammed on this topic. Like any other lacha, this debate did not have any result. Personally, i feel that from Manmohan Singh era, India has made a very good progress in all fields. Per capita Income has increased ( a bit ) , the purchasing power has increased among the masses and general awareness is also there. Lot of bad things have also crept in ( Soap operas, Talk shows where people talk rubbish, Corruption ...) and number of scams and scandals have increased. But i guess that in general, India has progressed over time !
