Self discipline vs Forced discipline
Yesterday, as i was walking back home, i read the following notice in front of a wine shop:

"Closed on 8th, 9th, 10th due to elections"

I dont see such notices on October 2, mainly because the sale continues to happen via the back door. But in case of elections, there would be some real damage and the shopkeeper would face a huge loss, if he opens the shop, daring the party workers!

Update: I notice that there are similar signs in front of "Firangi paani" and Bayleaf (that liquor wont be served on election day). Is this something mandated by law?
