My views on Software industry
The Following are my opinions about Software Industry in India:
1. It pays well, and if u know how to invest, u can save a lot.
2. Yes, Software Company does extract work from u , u have to work hard. But tell me which work pays that much without working hard ? even a MBA has to work a lot(its happening in my company). Remember, he is not only paid for the hard work which he is doing now, but also for the hard work which he did during his Study(and IIM-A demands some 20 hours work per day).
3. When u r choosing a career(maybe after college or schooling)u shud not only know about the pay.U have to see why IT pays.Four years ago, when i finished my schooling, i was enlightened about the magnitude of work in Software Industry, since i love this work, i am not complaining.
4. My choice of career is like this---
a.I want to work in I.T stream
b. I look for work which interests me and pays well(right now i am happy)
personally ,i don't like Government Concerns, somehow their names are synonymous with sluggishness.Whereas thats not the case with private software companies, where my requirements are met immediately.
well, coming to pay and other benefits, Govt. does give pension,pf etc But wll that be sufficient ? Instead ,private companies pay u well ,remember, this is not for spending lavishly-This money is for u to invest in an intelligent manner.
And for ppl who are complaining about the large amount of work which they are forced to do: Whenever a company starts work on a new project, they are asked to frame a project plan, where they are supposed to mention the time taken for each module. And it is the nature of every Project manager to give a large buffer to each module,so that the deadline is met and every one is happy.Atleast in my company it is happening like this.I guess any sane company will have such a procedure!
I dunno whether people are gonna agree over this point, If all the companies in the world were to be converted to government ones, the growth rate(technologically) will be halved !!
